History of Panama

History of Panama is like history of Panama City. Panama City was founded in 1519 by the Spanish governor Pedro Arias de Ávila. The city was destroyed in 1671 by a pirate Sir Henry Morgan, leaving only the ruins of Panamá Viejo. Three years later, the city was renovated about 8km to the southwest in the area which is known as Casco Viejo.
After Panama got their independence from Colombia in the Parque de la Independencia, Panama City was established as the capital of Panama.

Panama Culture

Panama attracts a many immigrants, partially due to its location between oceans and continents. Their main religion is Roman Catholic; however there is a growing Jewish population. Panama City is separated into distinct social-economic sectors, with the rich and business areas in northeast and poor neighborhoods are built into rocky hills or other places in Panama.

Danger

I recommended going to Panama Viejo or Casco Viejo but you have to be really careful because someone can rob you. However Panama Viejo and Casco Viejo are getting more and more, safer for tourists, so it won’t be too dangerous in the morning. The district of Chorrillo is also really dangerous because it’s an area with many poor people. I wouldn’t go to Chorrillo because it’s a place even polices doesn’t go in, so don’t go there in any occasions. Some people say Amador Causeway is also a little dangerous in night or if you go too far in. However Amador Causeway isn’t really dangerous because it’s a place with many people and one of the favorite places for tourists.
